How I Built Command and Control Center Excellence
An operational command centre that turns dashboards into leadership routines, exception management and accountable follow-up.
Command and Control Center Excellence was built around a simple idea: leadership visibility only matters if it changes action. A command centre should not be a wall of dashboards. It should be an operating routine that helps teams see exceptions, align priorities and follow through.
How I Built It
I started by defining the decisions the centre needed to support: what requires attention, who owns the response, what has changed since the last review and what should be escalated. The dashboard layer was then designed around those questions.
Power BI provided the visual layer, while the operating model defined review cadences, exception thresholds, ownership and follow-up routines. The work combined data design with governance design because the centre needed to drive behaviour, not just display metrics.
What It Does
The command centre brings together performance indicators, exception views, escalation items and action tracking. It helps leaders move from passive reporting to a more disciplined review and response rhythm.
What I Learned
A dashboard without a routine is decoration. The value came from pairing signals with ownership and cadence: when teams know what they are looking at, why it matters and what action follows, the data becomes operational.
