How I Built Power Platform Tools
Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI as an internal delivery system — practical digitisation with governance from the start.
The Power Platform Tools portfolio brought together Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI to solve internal workflow and reporting problems quickly. The point was not to build low-code apps for their own sake. It was to create a repeatable way to digitise work that was still sitting in email, spreadsheets and manual follow-ups.
How I Built It
I treated each tool like a small product. That meant defining the user, the decision or workflow it supported, the data it needed, and the support model after launch. Power Apps handled the interface, Power Automate handled triggers and routing, and Power BI handled monitoring and decision visibility.
The important design choice was governance. Even small tools need ownership, version control habits, access rules and a way to retire or improve them. Without that, low-code speed can quickly turn into operational clutter.
What It Does
The toolset covers app-based data capture, approval routing, notification flows, exception tracking and dashboards. It gives teams faster delivery while keeping the controls needed for internal enterprise use.
What I Learned
Power Platform is most effective when it sits close to the business problem. The best solutions were not the most technically complex; they were the ones that removed a repeated frustration and made the new behaviour easier than the old one.
